Counselling for anxiety and overwhelm
When your mind will not switch off, even ordinary life can start to feel like too much. You might replay conversations, prepare for everything that could go wrong or appear calm while privately feeling tense and exhausted.
I offer in-person counselling in Storrington, West Sussex, and online sessions across the UK, giving you space to understand what keeps anxiety going and respond to it differently.
Anxiety is not always obvious
Anxiety does not always look like panic. It can show up as overthinking, irritability, perfectionism, avoiding decisions, needing reassurance or finding it difficult to rest.
You may appear calm and capable to other people while feeling tense and exhausted underneath. If anxiety is affecting your choices, relationships or ability to switch off, it deserves space and attention.
How anxiety can show up
-

Your mind keeps racing
Thoughts loop, conversations replay and even small decisions can become difficult to put down.
-

You second-guess yourself
You overthink your choices, look for reassurance and worry about getting things wrong.
-

Rest does not feel restful
Your body may stop, but your mind keeps planning, checking and anticipating what might happen next.
Understanding what keeps anxiety going
Anxiety often develops for understandable reasons. It may be trying to keep you prepared, protect you from judgement or stop you from making mistakes. The difficulty is that these same patterns can eventually leave you feeling trapped and exhausted.
Counselling can help you notice your triggers, understand what sits underneath the worry and find different ways of responding. The aim is not to remove every anxious thought. It is to help anxiety feel less controlling and give you more choice.
